What is Swedish massage?
Swedish massage uses the relaxing techniques that come to mind when you hear the word "massage." It uses oil to allow long smooth gliding strokes on the skin known as 'effleurage.' It incorporates kneading strokes (petrissage) that lift, roll, press and milk the muscles of metabolic waste making room for fresh blood supply to the area. Vibration, friction (superficial and deep specific), and tapotement (a percussing stroke) are also used in swedish massage and can be stimulating or sedating depending on the duration of the stroke.
What is Trigger Point therapy?
Trigger point therapy is the application of direct pressure on a specific knot to relieve pain and reduce tension in a muscle leading to improved muscular function.
This work is based upon the trigger point research and manuals of Dr. Janet Travell.
Trigger points are hyper-irritable 'knots' in muscles that refer pain and cause muscular dysfunction. Trigger points have a variety of causes; among the causes are trauma (physical and emotional) and repetitive postures and actions.
What is deep tissue massage?
Deep tissue massage is a more focused, specific massage working around a specific joint, muscle or muscle group and allows access to deep layers of soft tissue. Deep tissue massage provides more movement, decreases chronic pain and is useful in injury prevention and rehabilitation.

What is Yamuna Body Rolling™?
Yamuna Body Rolling works the way a hands-on practitioner works -only using a ball designed exclusively for this practice. The ball replaces hands as it moves along muscles to stretch them, dislodge tension and discomfort, increase blood flow, and promote healing. Lying over the ball, you literally roll your body out almost like dough, stretching and elongating your muscles to create suppleness in tight areas and optimize range of motion. Yamuna Body Rolling reeducates muscles and stimulates bone, creating positive, permanent changes in the body. Scroll down for more about YBR.
What is a TheraCane?
TheraCane is a big (nearly 22 inches long) fiberglass candy-cane shaped hook with 6 strategically placed knobs that can apply pain-relieving deep compression directly to hard, knotted "trigger points". Pressure applied to the muscles by the TheraCane improves the flow of oxygenated blood to the muscles. It is excellent for self treatment of:

TESTIMONIALS
"One of the reasons that you are such a good massage therapist is your comprehensive understanding of anatomy, and your ability to translate this into a treatment plan. In my mind, your work combines the "science" of anatomy and physiology, along with the "art" of knowing how to apply your knowledge to individual human beings." - Steven Knope, M.D.
"Carrie is an excellent massage therapist. ...the best massage I've ever had, and I've had massages all around the world." - Catherine Baron
"I have had headaches for the past two weeks until I went to see Carrie Zamora. With her depth of knowledge and great listening skills, she was able to help me find the source of my pain and help me to learn how to relieve it. After just one treatment with Carrie, I am now pain free and can remain that way." - Crystal Amaya, wife, mother of three, and a full time job.
"Body rolling is a way for me to take control of my own healing. As a teacher of partner dancing, I developed numbness in my right arm - a kind of repetitive motion syndrome. The tingling kept expanding until it went from my shoulder to my palm. After the second session of body rolling, with Carrie walking me through the proper technique, the numbness was gone. Now I roll 15 minutes every day and my arm feels great. Massage is fabulous, but I can't get one every day. Body rolling is as close as you can get to getting a massage." - Wendy Miller, Champion West Coast Swing dancer
"The TheraCane is a simple, safe effective, self care tool that will benefit anyone with pain. There is ample medical literature documenting the benefits of identifying and deactivating trigger points, which you will learn to do. This one hour class will teach you how to maximize the TheraCane's use for your individual needs and challenges." - Marie P. Kearney, ANP, C-GNP, Integrative Medicine Nurse Practitioner
